David was my son. He died while serving his country in Iraq on August 1, 2005.
I had no idea what it is like to be deployed and to live with what is on your back. When I spoke to David, he would tell me that he was “OK” and didn’t need anything. I would send him things I knew he liked and needed. I would send him letters with pictures from home. He would call often, but still he would never tell me how they needed supplies.
It wasn’t until my officers went back to Iraq, that I found out. My First Sergeant would inform us, the people back home, what was needed. That would be just every day items. My heart broke when Sergeant said that his men needed pillows! Pillows!
I want to provide the men and women that serve for our country in time of war with things that are not provided to them. Wipes, pillows, socks, tee shirts, food, powdered drinks. I could go on for a bit but what I will do is post the wishes of the service persons to you, from them. I can make a difference! We can make the difference! We support; Local 777 scholarship in David’s name, Give to the troops, and our local, Glastonbury VFW
David made the ultimate sacrifice for his country and I have made a promise to support the troops & to preserve his memory for as long as I live.
