Help Us Help Them
I would like to thank Clifford Paquette, for a great time.
In our over 200 year history there has never been an official national symbol that specifically recognizes in gratitude and respect the ultimate sacrifice made by members of the United States military in service to our nation. The Honor and Remember Flag was created for that purpose.
This is our 4th year holding our event and we have raised over $20,000 dollars to date for groups such as Wounded Warrior, Purple Heart Homes, The Patriot Guard, and many more. However, fundraising is just a bonus to us, we do this to
honor our heroes and their families, dozens of which have attended our past
events. We hope that this year in Middletown we reach a whole new level.
Thank You Cliff!

SUPPORT THE TROOPS WITH VFW ‘MARCH MADNESS’
PACKING EVENT ON FEBRUARY 10
GLASTONBURY, Conn. – VFW Post 7659 and its Women’s Auxiliary are sponsoring a collection and packing event on Sunday, February 10, 2013, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at South Congregational Church, 1301 Forbes Street, East Hartford. The theme of the event is “March Madness” and is designed to support our soldiers by sending a little bit of home to those serving our country overseas.
Donations of snack foods, such as small packages of potato chips (less than 6 ounces), boxes of crackers, dips (in non-breakable containers), cookies and other fun foods are needed. The goal is to ship care packages that will allow our troops to enjoy watching “March Madness” basketball.
The group also needs donations of socks. All items must be dropped off between 12 and 1:30 p.m. St. Patrick’s Day cards and spring cards and pictures are also encouraged. This is a perfect project for youth groups.
Volunteers are needed from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to sort and pack donated items.
The VFW has purchased a number of tickets to the church’s chili cook-off for volunteers to enjoy, starting at 11:30. Volunteers should sign in with the VFW to receive a free ticket to the event.
“This is a small way that we can say thank you to our many devoted volunteers. The church’s cook-off is always a fun event,” said Frank Forrest, who organizes the packing events.
Monetary donations are also needed to defray the costs of postage. It costs approximately $15 to ship each 25-pound box. The total shipping bill usually comes to more than $1,000. Checks should be sent to: VFW Post 7659, c/o Frank Forrest, 165 Maple Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
For more information or to volunteer, call Frank Forrest at 860-690-2845, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.

Many of the people think that because we brought soldiers home there is not the need for mailings. The fact is, that we will always have our men & Women overseas.
Even thought many of our soldiers have come home, there still many over seas that need our suport.
We must not forget them, Not a one must be forgotten!
