David always showed signs of being a leader in anything he undertook. David’s mother Anita attended his graduation in June 2005 and accepted the “Michael I. Rand Memorial Award for Attitude” on his behalf. This award is in honor of another Marine apprenticed in Local 777’s program who succumbed to cancer in 2002. To honor David and inspire others, UA 777 Plumbers and Pipefitters named their training school in Wallingford, the “Sgt. David Coullard Training Center,” not only to honor him, but to inspire others to reach their goals.

On 19 September 2009, UA Local 777’s new training facility in Meriden, CT will be dedicated as the “Sgt. David J. Coullard and Local 777 Veterans Training Center.” With this dedication, David and all our veterans will live on, not only in the hearts of their families, but in the hearts and minds of UA Local 777 and the United Association for generations to come.
